📌 Introduction

We use special expressions to talk about present and past possibility — things that might be true now or might have happened in the past.

Present: “He might be at school.” (I’m not sure)
Past: “She might have gone home.” (I think so, but I don’t know)

📚 Expressing Possibility

Present: might/could + base verb
Past: might/could + have + past participle

Examples:

  • He might be tired. (Present)
  • She could be at the library. (Present)
  • They might have left. (Past)
  • He could have forgotten the meeting. (Past)

Note: “Might” and “could” are often interchangeable for possibility.
