Long Forms and Short Forms 📝
What are long and short forms?
Long forms are complete words, while short forms are shortened versions we use in writing. Short forms help us write faster!
Common Long and Short Forms
How to make short forms:
• Replace missing letters with an apostrophe (‘)
• “I am” becomes “I’m” (the ‘a’ is removed)
• “You are” becomes “you’re” (the ‘a’ is removed)
• “Cannot” becomes “can’t” (the ‘no’ is removed)
Remember: The apostrophe shows where letters are missing!
Writing About Presents for Mum 🎁
Example Writing:
“I love my mum. I’m giving her flowers for Mother’s Day. She’s kind and beautiful. I can’t wait to see her smile!”
